CLASS OF '49 AND WIVES CELEBRATE
AT ANNUAL CHIRSTMAS LUNCHEON

Each year the Class of '49 holds four luncheon programs to bring old friends together. Once a year, at Christmastime, the class invites their wives to join them. This year the party was held at the Christiana Hilton with an excellent turnout.

The class enjoyed a traditional turkey dinner with Archmere faculty guests Fathers Collins and McLaughlin. Father Collins gave the attendees an update on the situation in the Patio and how soon Archmere expects to regain full control after the abortive putsch attempt last spring.

Tom and Jean McFarlin won the "prize" for the greatest traveling record, over four hours driving from Springfield, MA. Tied for second place were Andy and Linda Mitchell and Jack and Alberta McKenna, from Ocean City, MD and Salisbury, MD respectively.

It was Mrs. Claus (a.k.a. Jean Toman) in full North Pole regalia, paid a surprise visit to the party and distributed beautiful red Christmas roses to all the wives. She seranaded the class as she moved through the suite to present the flowers.

It was announced that at the next '49er luncheon the classes of '50 and '51 are being invited. It will be held Thursday, March 7, at the Columbus Inn, Pennsylvania and Woodlawn Aves., Wilmington. Reservations are required. If you are in either class and would like to be included, please call either Dick Joyce at 610-687-2657 or Phil Toman at 302-737-9073. Cocktail service begins about 11:40 and lunch is served about noon. You may select from three menu items. Deadline for reservations is February 25. There is plenty of free parking at the Inn and, as always, we will have a private dining room. Call now to reserve your place for a great afternoon.

Here is the photo of the Christmas party. The priests left immediately after eating as Archmere duties called. This photo was taken well after they left.

END.
