The Archmere Alumni Association and the College Counseling Office of
Archmere Academy host two Career events annually for students. These
events take place due to the organization of the Career Events Council
and the help of many volunteers.
Every fall, shortly before Thanksgiving, we hold Career
Experience Day for Seniors. During this day, Senior students are matched
up to volunteer hosts who work in fields that are of interest to the
students. Most, but not all hosts, have a connection to Archmere: alumna/us,
current or former parents, or former faculty. A wide array of work experiences
are sought out every year - from Accounting to Zoology. If you would
like to know more about Career Experience Day or would like to volunteer
to host some students, please contact Marc
Albero '91 or Carolyn
Doyle College Counselor.
Every Spring, shortly after Easter, we host Career Day
for Juniors. The day starts off at the Academy with a Keynote speaker
to address the class with the potential challenges and rewards available
to them as they move from their teenage life to college to adulthood.
During this day, Junior students pick and choose from various fields
of interest and attend information sessions. Volunteers speakers host
the sessions in classrooms and/or meeting areas to talk about their
relevant work and educational experience that got them to where they
are today. Alumni have reported greatly enjoying coming back to Archmere
as the "teacher" even if it is just for a day. Many interesting
questions and answers develop through the course of the session. This
day is a good lead-in to the Seniors-to-be for Career Experience Day.
If you would like to know more about Career Day or would like to volunteer
to host a session, please contact Marc
