OBITUARY FOR FATHER GEORGE JACKSON FELDMAN, O. PRAEM.

Father George Jackson Feldman, O. Praem., age 84 , a member of the
Norbertine community of St. Norbert Abbey, De Pere, WI, and a Norbertine
priest, passed into God's eternal kingdom on August 5, 2002

Father Feldman was born on June 9, 1918, in Wilmington, Delaware, to
Elmer and Agnes (Schoenwald) Feldman. His home parish was St. Paul
Parish, Wilmington, DE.

In 1936 Father Feldman graduated from Archmere Academy, Claymont, DE.
He received a B.A. degree in Philosophy from St. Norbert College, De
Pere, in 1940 and an M.A. degree in Education from Villanova University,
Philadelphia, PA, in 1954.

On August 28, 1937 Father Feldman entered St. Norbert Abbey and was
vested as a novice. He professed Simple Vows on June 18, 1939, and
Solemn Vows on June 18, 1942. On July 2, 1943 he was ordained to the
Priesthood.

Father Feldman served on the faculties of St. Norbert High School, De
Pere, Southeast Catholic High School, Philadelphia, PA, and Archmere
Academy, Claymont, DE. He was appointed Principal of Abbot Pennings
High School, De Pere, in 1958 and served in that position for 15 years.
Father Feldman also did parish work in Clearwater, FL, and served as
House Superior of St. Joseph Priory, De Pere. In his late retirement
years, he was involved with priestly ministry at both St. Joseph Priory
and St. Norbert Abbey.

In 1962 Father Feldman was elected to the position of President of
Wisconsin Catholic Secondary School Principals and had a Lifetime
Membership in the Knights of Columbus - Abbot Pennings Council No. 3955.
In 1972 he was the recipient of the St. Norbert College Alma Mater
Award. He served as Director of Development of Abbot Pennings High
School, De Pere, and as Executive Director of Abbot Pennings High School
Foundation, De Pere.

Father Feldman is survived by the Norbertine Community; 11 nieces and
nephews: Nyra Maguire, Vincent Maguire, Michele Lank, Cathy Maguire,
Michael Maguire, Joseph Maguire, Paul Maguire, Mary Maguire, Gerard
Maguire, Agnes Maguire, and Margaret Ganakis. He is further survived by
Kathy Maguire, the wife of Father Feldman's deceased nephew, Jack
Maguire.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Nyra Maguire; one
brother, Paul; an aunt, Sister M. Dorothy; an uncle, Arthur Feldman; and
a nephew, Jack Maguire.

Father Feldman was a gregarious and actively involved member of the
Norbertine community. Over the years he served on a number of Order
committees including the Abbot's Council. He was affable, easy to be
with, and had a great sense of humor. He was conscientious, dependable,
and committed in all the varied ministries of his life. He was a
cherished uncle and a "good community man." He will be missed.

The Reception of the Body/Vespers of the Dead Service will be held at
St. Norbert Abbey on Friday, August 9, at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will
follow until 9:00 p.m. and will continue on Saturday, August 10, from
8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held in
the Abbey Church on Saturday, August 10, at 10:30 a.m. Rt. Rev. E.
Thomas De Wane, O. Praem., Abbot of St. Norbert Abbey, will preside at
the funeral liturgy.

Burial will be in the St. Norbert Cemetery.
