Rev. Daniel F. Hurley, O.Praem.
1936-1945

Father Daniel Hurley arrived at Archmere on August 13, 1932,  the 2nd teacher to arrive. He had attended public high school, worked for two years after that, enlisted in the army in 1918,  entered the Norbertines  in 1922, and was ordained a priest on April 30, 1928. After four years as a teacher, Father Hurley became Archmere's second headmaster on August 28, 1936; he resigned because of poor health in December 1945, and returned to Wisconsin. His nephew, Thomas, was  graduated from Archmere in 1942, entered the Norbertines  in 1943, and was killed in a car crash on January 27, 1947, on his way to teach at the Norbertine high school in Green Bay. Father Hurley served as a pastor and convent chaplain from 1948 until his death on September 25, 1963.
